"Meeka's paper": Ellie Phillips works with Beyond Talent mentor Tamikquela Cherry on one of Ms. Cherry's college assignments.  Ms. Cherry, a GED graduate, mentors students in the Living Wages GED program.  Beyond Talent helped her transition to college.  The partnership continues today:     Ms. Cherry will finish her freshman year at UDC in May 2004.

 

 

 

 

 

"Mentors": Beyond Talent facilitates mentoring relationships on many levels.  Deborah Wimberly (right), Educational Director at Living Wages' Washington Highlands site and a Beyond Talent board member, mentors Jewell Moore (center), a graduate of the Living Wages program.  Mrs. Moore, in turn, mentors several Living Wages students, including Charles Vernon (left).

 

 

 

 

"Linda tutoring":  Beyond Talent mentor Linda Page, a GED graduate, tutors a student at Living Wages.  She is working with Beyond Talent to pursue training in entrepreneurship.

 

 

 

 

 

 

"Meeka and Yvette": Beyond Talent mentors, Tamikquela Cherry (Meeka) and Yvette Gardner, work at the Living Wages' Anacostia site.  Ms. Gardner worked for Living Wages through Beyond Talent last year.  She was such a good employee and effective teacher that Living Wages recruited her to work for them.  She now works full-time for Living Wages as an AmeriCorps volunteer.
