Mr. Schwartz’s prior experiences and competencies include being a successful entrepreneur, marketer, business line manager, management consultant, recruiter and mentor; founder, President and spokesman for a nonprofit public interest group tax exempt foundation; congressional committee counsel and legislative draftsman; attorney; and activist. Mr. Schwartz has a proven track record of success in three key areas that are particularly important to the success of The Social Venture Capital Foundation.

IN THE NON-PROFIT WORLD: He
co-founded, and helped build and lead to self-sufficiency an effective national non-profit public foundation dedicated to protecting children’s health through education and improved vaccine safety

IN PUBLIC POLICY: He played a major role in the enactment of such landmark legislation as the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1977, and the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act

Middlehurst, Vice Chair-Treasurer
Ms. Middlehurst is a former teacher, securities lawyer, expert in corporate accountability to shareholders, and public interest group activist. She is former Board President of two independent schools and served on the Boards of several other non-profit organizations. She is also the mother of two children.
J. Michael Hemmer, Secretary
Mr. Hemmer is Vice President-Law for the Union Pacific Corporation. Formerly, Mr. Hemmer served as a partner, the leader of the transportation practice,
member of the management committee, and head of IT services review for Covington & Burling, a nationally renowned Washington, DC law firm.
