The Social Venture Capital Foundation mobilizes the tools and insights of venture capitalism to
find
and provide startup funding for, and mentoring support to, a new generation of not-for-profit social change leaders and
organizations.
With this support, these
nonprofits can put their plans to work to build a
better world for all.
Traditional venture capitalists
assist promising new startup businesses to transform their aspirations for
profitability into executable business plans and provide a hosted
environment in which these new businesses can execute these plans.
Similarly, SVCF serves as an “incubator” or “hot house” to
provide needed help to selected new not-for-profit organizations.
SVCF support empowers these non-profits to design and carry out
practical action plans to achieve their social goals and to become
financially self-sustaining in the process.

not a “socially conscious investment fund” in which investors seek financial return by investing in socially responsible profit-making companies.)
